East Village-Vanished Landmark-NYC The Gas Station & Junk Tower

Called “The Gas Station” aka: “The Garage” or “Art Gallery Space 2B” an abandoned gas station, used as a metal workshop, bar, outdoor sculpture exhibition space, a performance art space, and concert space. Everything was welded out of abandoned scrap metal including the perimeter fence and chairs. The electricity was still connected and free — perfect for electric welders. It was managed by Linus Coraggio, and made by an artist collective of sculptors called the Rivington School.
